Leading a multi-disciplinary team of consultants and specialists, Atelier Pacific won the commission to renovate the fourth and sixth floors of the large exhibition facility, including the complete refurbishment of 18 meeting/seminar spaces, two function suites, and ancillary spaces totalling 60,000sq ft. The overriding aim of the design was for flexibility to suit any number of different uses – from wedding banquets to seminars, press conferences and exhibitions. The focus was on updating and revitalizing existing features and components, thereby minimising budget costs.

When style-conscious retailer, Joyce, exquisitely adapted the Gio Ponti office building on Nathan Road, Hong Kong, to become a multi-level fashion mecca, they also introduced a chic restaurant/bar to the fifth floor. Atelier Pacific managed the project, ensuring that the exacting standards of renowned Hong Kong architect John Morford were fully realised.

The project was jointly entrusted to Garry Emery Design of Melbourne and Atelier Pacific and marked the beginnings of a new era for Great Eagle Development. The construction of the five star Langham Place Hotel in Kowloon, Hong Kong coincided with the restructuring and branding of the group’s portfolio of exclusive hotel properties; hence the need for specialist expertise in devising a signage and graphics strategy for its newest arrival.

Designing the interiors of a chic, contemporary dining venue in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong met with several creative challenges aside from maximising table numbers through imaginative spatial gymnastics. In keeping with the restaurant’s name, a cluster of circular mirrors forms the central theme, offset by the layering of natural materials such as Chinese slate, rich lacquered timbers and polished concrete floors.

The extensive array of food and beverage options in the departure halls of Hong Kong’s terminal building are largely a result of Atelier Pacific’s collaboration with one of Hong Kong’s most established restaurant development groups. Ranging from large self-service restaurants to more intimate cafes and sandwich bars, there were serious challenges in terms of access, circulation, and efficiency of operation.

Identifying a global trend towards increased long-stay hotel occupancies, the developers sought to re-model a 25-storey commercial building in Hong Kong’s popular Soho district to generate 60 luxuriously appointed serviced apartments. Its superior market positioning justified the input of renowned Parisian designer Christian Liagre to formulate an initial design concept. Atelier Pacific picked up the process from then onwards, developing the concept plan through to detailed design, tender and implementation. The focus for the six different apartment types is on individuality, custom-designed contemporary furniture and high quality finishes.

Among Hong Kong’s first generation of nightspots to colonise the popular entertainment district of Lan Kwai Fong, when its owners decided to renovate the interior, their concern was not to alienate loyal patrons. Instead of radically altering its image, the makeover focused on improving awkward circulation issues, opening up the frontage to the buzz of surrounding nightlife and introducing a quieter lounge area upstairs.
